To be part of a movement of God among the youth of Central and Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society.
To equip young leaders in Central and Eastern Europe to fulfill Christ’s commission.
Josiah Venture is located in 14 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including Slovakia.
TCKompas is the Slovak national organization of Josiah Venture.
Training Center Kompas (TCK) was started in 1993, when missionary Danny Jones and the youth ministry leadership of the Lutheran, Brethren, Apostolic and Baptist churches of Slovakia, initiated the formation of a network of youth ministry leaders, then called SIET.
From the start, TCK was clear in its vision to influence a new generation of God-followers after the fall of Communism. Through those years, SIET organized national events such as training conferences, music festivals, and the production of youth ministry resources.
From 1999 to 2005, the training aspect of SIET/Kompas expanded into a variety of training opportunities, such as camps and work projects. In 2005, due to the increased financial and organizational complexity, the SIET board decided to divide the organization into two separate entities. SIET returned to its original focus as a network of relationships, while KOMPAS in turn, became Training Center KOMPAS.
Although Kompas Café no longer functions as a local youth center, Training Center KOMPAS has kept a sharp focus on its vision to help, train and inspire youth leaders on a national scale.
Since 2006, our TCK team has strengthened its national presence, opened two additional training offices – one in Presov and the other in Banska Bystrica, and has touched the hearts of many youth leaders and their teams through the various training programs and events we provide.
To live our whole lives to train, help and inspire youth leaders who are raising up the Next Generation of Christ followers in the church in Slovakia.
Annual Youth Leaders Conference
Is the largest youth conference in Eastern Europe. It is here that Slovak youth leaders and their teams can come together to be challenged, inspired and motivated to give themselves to the work of reaching the youth of Slovakia for Christ
School of Leaders
Is a monthly program for youth leaders that provides training in personal character growth, leadership skills, theology, bible study principles, Christ’s ministry strategy, discipleship, and personal mentoring.
KECY English Camp
(Kompas English Camp for Youth)
Is a camp ministry that invites young people to be a part of the local youth program through English Camp.
Slovak and North American youth groups partner together with an intern team to put on the camp. This is a great cross-cultural experience that allows American youth groups to connect with the young people of Slovakia and to exhibit the love of Christ. It also allows Slovak youth groups the opportunity to build relationships with students. And then after the summer, continue walking in discipleship with follow up and small groups.
High school is a time of tough, moral choices. To help teens learn how to avoid life-threatening mistakes and habits, a US Christian band and national speakers will tour Slovak cities in the spring and fall doing concerts and “preventative” lectures in high schools during the week, with an evangelistic rally at the end of the week. Through local church partnerships, Exit Tour provides an opportunity for youth groups to use Exit 316 DVDs and bible study to help launch a nationwide evangelistic campaign designed to start 200 evangelistic Exit Clubs.
“Fusion” Music Outreach
Invest in reaching un-churched youth through a network of youth rock/gospel choirs and performing arts groups based in local churches. During weekly rehearsals, the youth hear the gospel message and see Christ at work in the leaders and other Christian members. This ministry is already reaching over 160 teens every week in the city where it was pioneered in the Czech Republic, and many have already put their faith in Christ. We started this ministry in 2011 which includes both year-round groups and music/performing arts camps and workshops.
