I love Skiing and I love the JV Kids! Why not put them together? That is what we did. Hondo and Trisha, who serve in Slovenia, and I planned a trip, this weekend with the oldest of the JV Kids (kids of our JV staff). Our main goal was to give these teens a place to be together with their JVK friends, away from their normal life situation. It is not easy to grow up in a second culture as a missionary kid. It is great for them, to have a break from straddling two cultures. To have a place where they can be free to be who they are. What better place to do this then in God’s lovely creation, the Alps. Plus it is geographically in the middle for our countries.
During the weekend we spent time shredding and skiing all over the mountains. The weather was absolutely perfect, not a cloud in the sky and 30 degrees. We could not have asked for anything better. There were 13 of us together, which was a perfect number, not too small, but still small enough that we could ride together on the slopes. Thank God no one was injured during the two days skiing!
Oh, and did I mention we stayed in a castle, that was converted into a hotel. I regret to inform you that I forgot to take a picture of it, but believe me it really was a castle. Only in Europe, right? During the evenings we were more chill. We played games, talked, prayed, and worshiped together. I feel so blessed to be a part of these kid’s lives. Please pray for them, as they are often in challenging places, serving in different countries!
