This month, I have had many great times with my Small group guys in Banska Bystrica. One of my favorite times, was having them come over to stay at my house this week. These guys are so fun and love to laugh and adventure all the time. During this month we finally named our group. After almost a half a year of no ideas, the guys decided on Mighty Men, or M&M’s for short. I love that they also want to add a goofy element to everything, it brings joy and laughter. I can imagine Jesus, Paul or David and their “mighty men” laughing and teasing each other, but being filled with a deep committed brotherly love for each other. These guys still surprise me with their ability to support, love, and think about one another. During our all nighter we were chatting about random things and then Oli and Tate said, “hey you know God answered prayer.” I said, “Really, what did He answer?” They told me that I had mentioned I was nervous about conducting a Pentatonix song we are doing for Fusiondary. (It is very complicated and I am not the best conductor). They said they had prayed for me and God answered their prayer. I asked them, “How do you know?” They told me that I did a great job and did not seem nervous, which was true. They simply looked at me and said, ‘that was obviously not you, it was God helping you.” Well I can say it is a little offensive when you hear, it is obviously not you doing it, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was true. I wonder how often we don’t see God truly working and giving us strength, because we do not have eyes for what He is doing. Thank God, these boys are developing this vision in their lives.
During the meeting I gave the boys a gift from Israel, a mezuzah, which is what Hebrews place on their doorpost to remind them to Love God and Love Others. It contains a blessing on the house. I decided that I would adapt it a little and fill each Mezuzah with a specific blessing to the guys. I told them that this blessing is something from God’s Word that I would love to see become true in them. It was actually surprisingly stronger a gift then I thought it would be. I hope that these things would be true of me guys.
