Bratislava Camp 2014

0

This year’s camp In Bratislava was really amazing.   This was the first year at a camp where Students really had a role in leading the camp.  Many of the students had leading roles in different areas of camp.   I had the pleasure of planning the Sports and was working with Richard, one of the students. As the week went on I began to give him more and more responsibility until he was leading it along with a team of other students.   It was really amazing for me to see this and it really encouraged my heart.

Before the camp began we thought that it might be a hard camp without the Chases, as Mark Chase is the one who coordinates and leads the choir.  This year we asked our intern Abby to lead the choir.  She was our intern through the spring and is only in her early twenties.  She really did a spectacular job of leading the choir.  She organized and led all of the conductors well.  In the concert you could barely tell a difference.

During the week we had a number of students come to Christ who did not know Him before, although at this point most of our students are believers and a lot of the conversations were about further growth. During the week I met one boy named Simon who plays on trumpet.  He had brought is trumpet to camp and wanted to learn how to play some of the songs.  Maybe you don’t know but I have played trumpet for many years now.  I told him I could help him learn the songs.   As the week went on we did not only work on the trumpet but also grew in friendship.  We had many good conversations about how to be a good example of Christ to those around us in our schools and at home, who do not know him.  Please pray for Simon as he continues to grow in his faith! In the concert Simon played wonderfully. One song was so hard that only leaders played it, but Simon played on trumpet.  He was the only one who played the solo section right!
