This year’s Fall conference in JV was called “Search and Rescue.” It was probably the best conference I have been to. The whole week was about searching out the lost. One of the major things I learned is that we talk so often about being sensitive to seekers. The problem with this is that no one seeks God, this is what the Bible tells us. The one who searches and seeks is God, and He has invited us to be a part of it. So we are on a search and rescue mission for the lost. When you work in search and rescue, you work in a squad and train your skills over and over again so you are ready. Throughout the week, we worked in squads and trained in sharing the gospel and were trained in different areas of importance. Above is a picture of my squad. I was given the task to be the leader of my group, which was hard because I was the youngest and least experienced of the group, but it was a great opportunity for growth.
In the middle of the week we actually went out into the community and shared the gospel with people. We were out for 6 hours. This was an amazing experience for me. Many leaders in our organization said they were skeptical of this really being affective in our context in Eastern Europe, but they did it anyway. I had the opportunity to share with one boy named David who was actually Slovak, but was studying in Czech. He prayed to receive Christ! Can you believe it! When we returned to our training center we heard story after story about peoples days. During the day we talked to over 300 young people. Around 95 heard the gospel, 7 prayed to accept Christ and many said they would think about it! Around 10 or so are now going to a local youth group! This is amazing and really unheard of in this area that this many would come to Christ in one day without prior relationship. This was a huge thing for so many people! Many people shared that they had never thought this possible, but now they are wanting to incorporate this into their daily lives. I have personally decided that every week I will go into town for at least an hour and share the gospel. Please pray for strength, wisdom, and protection for me and for the others who are doing the same.
