We had the very first Fusion Concert yesturday! It was fun to see the students really getting into the performance. Technically it was not the best performance, but it was enjoyable to everyone involved and to those watching. The students really did a great job. We had a couple solo singers, a drama, and even a song done by two guys who write their own music. It was also surprising to have as many people come to the concert as we did. We probably had 40 people for the first concert! It is amazing that after four full weeks of practice, we were able to pull off a Christmas concert. We hope that not only did the kids have fun, but that their parents have now seen what we are doing and what their children are a part of. I believe that this is much more important than having a great show. If we have the parents of the students loving what we are doing, it gives us more liberties to share with the students. I believe one of the biggest problems we could run into is parents not allowing their kids to come because they see us as a cult. In Slovakia many people believe that any church that is not Catholic or Lutheran is a cult. The church we work with, the, Bretheran Church, is really low on the totem pole of “legitmate churchs” in most Slovak’s eyes. So it is really a blessing to have this many parents come and see for themselves what it is really about.
On another note my friend Tim Keaton is here visiting. We just returned to Banska Bystrica from visiting Vienna. It was a lot of fun to show my good friend around Vienna and to go to the Christmas markets there. If you have never been in europe and gone to a Christmas market you must go sometime, they are really a special event. I am looking forward to spending the next week still with Tim. Merry Christmas Everyone!
